Smoky Mountain Biking Trails –  These awesome trails can be found in Cades Cove, Townsend, and other areas in and around Great Smoky Mountains National Park.


Bicycle rentals are available inside the national park. Biking Trails in the Smokies provide refreshing outdoor adventure.

TOWNSEND BIKING TRAIL

Location: Runs parallel to Hwy US 321 in Townsend with road signs denoting beginning and end. Townsend Visitors Center on trail.
Length: Approximately 3 miles
Biking Trail: Good paved surface; short hills

Features: Scenic beauty of area, access to restaurants, shops, motel


CADES COVE LOOP ROAD

Located in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From Visitor Center in Townsend, 2.9 miles to intersection in Park: right 7 miles to Cades Cove, left to Campground and Store.
Length: 11 mile loop
Biking Trail: Paved road
Features: Cabins, churches, mill, mountain streams, panoramic vistas
Start: Cades Cove store

Bicycles may be rented April through October at the Cades Cove Bike Shop. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, Memorial Day through September 27, the Loop Road is closed to autos from sunrise until 10 am. During this time, it is BICYCLES ONLY! For more information, call (865) 448-9034.


ELLEJAY JAUNT

Location: NE Blount County, Tennessee
Length: 20.5 miles – or shorter route 10.5 miles
Biking Trail: Good paved surface; some hills
Features: Scenic farmland, panoramic mountain views, mountain stream, historic site

ACCESS: 6 miles from Chamber of Commerce, Maryville. From Church Street parking lot exit, turn left on Church Street; turn right on Washington (US 321 North); continue on Lamar Alexander Parkway 5 miles; left on Tuckaleechee Pike, 1.7 miles to Coulter Bridge.


LITTLE RIVER RUN

Location: E Blount County, Tennessee
Length: 11 miles one way
Biking Trail: Good paved surface; mostly easy grade
Features: Parallels mountain stream, wild flowers in spring.

ACCESS: 6.5 miles from Chamber of Commerce, Maryville. From Church Street parking lot exit, turn left on Church Street; turn right on Washington (US 321 North); continue on Lamar Alexander Parkway 5 miles; left on Tuckaleechee Pike, 1.7 miles to Coulter Bridge.
