A guided Hayride is an adventurous and exciting activity for families or groups.  Hayride trailers carry you on a nostalgic ride where you will be surrounded by the preserved 19th and early 20th century farming community. You will ride in a hay-filled trailer and tour some of the most scenic areas in the park. Cool mountain breezes and towering forests surround you as you roll along to the peaceful sounds of the birds, with miles of mountain vistas in all directions. Often seen on these fully narrated adventures is the wildlife  such as white-tailed deer, black bears, raccoons, turkeys, woodchucks, and other animals. This adventure option offers some of the best guided opportunities for wildlife viewing in the park.

Be Entertained By Experienced Guides!

Knowledgeable guides will entertain you with tales of the early settlers and how they made a living from the land while creating a new community. Learn about farming, home life, religion, and recreation of the ancestors of this part of the national park, as well as the challenges they faced as they settled the area. During special occasions,  Ranger-Led Hayrides are scheduled by the Park Service.

These rides take a trip back in time where you can enjoy and experience a 1½ to 3 hour leisurely ride through mountainous forest and fields. This trip is extraordinary and an unforgettable experience which will create family memories which will last a lifetime. Don’t forget your camera!

In the cooler months, bring along warm jackets and a blanket or two to keep cold winds off  your back.

Hayrides last approximately 1 1/2 to 3 hours.  The trip length will depend on the amount of traffic on the loop road.
